Their skid cost them the top of the Eastern Conference and they have slid to third place in the conference behind surging Buffalo and Washington. The Devils will be looking to avoid their first four-game losing streak of the season.Martin Brodeur may have been showing signs of fatigue as well as the goaltender had started 26 straight games, but sat out the third period on Monday.The Panthers (21-20-8) come in riding a three game winning streak and boasts four wins in their last five games. With a win on Wednesday the Panthers can clinch their longest winning streak of the season.
Florida is hopeful this streak will continue as they are once again currently out of the playoff hunt. If they remain hot and claim a postseason berth, it will be their first since 2000, the longest active streak in the league.Rostislav Olesz is single-handedly trying to break that ugly mark by scoring in bunches. He scored the only goal of a 1-0 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday and has five goals in his last five games.The teams have split two meetings this season with each team winning on the opponent’s ice.
