New England and Baltimore square off in one of the two wildcard playoff match-ups this weekend. Coach Belichek is under heavy scrutiny for his decision to play Wes Welker in last weekends meaningless game vs the Texans which led to his injury. All world quarterback Tom Brady will now be without his favorite target on Sunday. As if this isn’t enough of an obstacle the Pats also made headlines recently for the conflicted reports of Brady playing with broken ribs this season and Randy Moss also being banged up Friday missing practice. The answer to every body’s question is yes, Welker’s injury and the other Patriots problems will not be an easy thing to overcome. If anybody is capable of doing it though, Bill Belichek is that man. Our nfl odds show the Patriots favored by 3.5 points and the over/under set for 43.
The area where Baltimore flourishes over other teams is their overall defensive package. Problem here though is New England’s defense unit is every bit as good as the Ravens. The Pats allow only one more point per game and a mere 20 yards total more against. Those are the overall numbers. In Foxboro this season Belichek’s defense has held opponents to 13 points per game and only 163 yards passing. Offensively, Brady and crew get the edge as they average three more points per game and 48 more yards total. At home this season the Pats average 31 points per game and Sunday they go up against a Baltimore secondary that has been a bitter disappointment this season. The x-factor in today’s game will be a guy that most people have never heard of, slot receiver Julian Edelman. The rookie from Kent State filled in beautifully for Welker in the beginning of the season and has all the makings of a star receiver in the future. He is learning under the best coach in the game while playing in the best system possible for his game. Expect the Ravens linebackers to have fits covering the Pats tight ends and receivers today. If Baltimore gets down by two scores they might not have the firepower to come back. If you want to bet the nfl scores and odds, check out BetUS and their $500 match bonus offer.
Ravens are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning record.
Ravens are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games vs. the AFC.
Ravens are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 January games.
Patriots are 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a SU loss
Patriots are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.
New England is the best team of this past decade. They have the #1 quarterback, most successful coach and best defensive scheme’s that we have seen over the past 10 seasons overall. Today they face a second year quarterback and go up against a secondary that is not like any of Ravens past. It is spotty and gives up a ton of big plays. Expect the Brady bunch to click on all cylinders sending a message to the AFC that they are still a force to be reckoned with. FREE PLAY below:
